I met Yaltah in the early seventies, when she performed regularly at the Gstaad Yehudi Menuhin Festival. I made numerous sketches and a number of paintings of the great musicians invited to make wonderful music with the Menuhin family. The sensitivy and profundity of Yaltah's music-making extended to her whole life, which she tirelessly devoted to the well-being of a huge circle of friends. Her intelligent, unconventional spirituality was balanced with mischievous humour. At the memorial concert for Yehudi in London, when we met again after several years (full of sadness for us both), her first question, with a twinkle, was "How's your love-life?"
